The Singer in My Band marks the highly anticipated Matador Records debut from This Is Lorelei, the acclaimed solo project of Nate Amos. Building upon the foundation of the Great American Songbook, Amos masterfully deconstructs and reassembles these classic elements into something uniquely his own – familiar yet endearingly offbeat, embodying his signature style.

Written during extensive global touring, this album emerges as Amos's first true 'road record.' The creative process was deeply influenced by the transient nature of life on the road, with ideas incubating during quiet moments of reflection in transit. As Amos recalls, "The ideas incubated while daydreaming in the car without access to any instruments... they developed slowly and subconsciously, existing as a sort of intangible thing while looking out the van window." This introspective approach imbues the album with a distinct, organic feel.

Following the critical success of 2024's Box for Buddy, Box for Star, which explored themes of sobriety and musical personas through a genre-agnostic lens, The Singer in My Band was largely crafted in Amos's home studio, with final touches added at his parents' home in Vermont. Amos handled engineering, production, and performance for the entire album, with notable contributions from his father, bluegrass musician Bob Amos, on banjo for the title track, and vocal support from his sister Sarah Amos and partner Al Nardo.

This Is Lorelei continues to solidify Nate Amos's position as a significant voice in contemporary alternative music, delivering an album that is both deeply personal and universally resonant.
